Photo Gallery Walls Are My Favorite!

Photo Gallery Walls Are My Favorite!

I've done a few photo gallery walls over the years. I was recently looking at them and kind of chuckled at some of my style from the past.

Here are a few posts you can check out.

It's kind of funny how our styles change with current trends. I also think we change and see things differently.

In 2022, I designed this photo gallery wall. It was like a family tree, our wedding photo, followed by our children's, then pictures of their families. I think I'll re-create this somewhere else in our home. (For privacy purposes, the faces will be blurred.)

This was from my 2022 Spring Tour.

2022 Spring Tour

This latest gallery wall, I wanted simple and elegant. Last year on vacation, we had the WHOLE family together, which was a dream come true! We took some beautiful family photos at the beach. They needed to be displayed!

Choosing photos for a gallery wall tends to be the most time consuming. Especially when you have so many to chose from.

Laying out photos on the floor

Some other things to consider is whether you want photos vertical or horizontal. I realize I take too many photos vertically and don't have as many horizontal. But I made it work. I love the series of 4 photos in the center. We got some great shots of the grandbabies. They are so adorable!

For this gallery wall, I wanted all the frames to be light in color and to match. I found these gorgeous ones at Target. They are a brushed gold and go so well with the other gold accents I've added to the room.

Then placing them on the wall can be challenging. It's important to find the center of the space you want to display your photos. Then work from the center of your photos out. So, I started with the little grouping of 4 photos and worked my way out from there. I ended up using the width of the level as spacing between photos.

After, I had it up for a few days, I felt that it was missing something. I added 2 more photos and it seems better balanced. I still could add a little something in there... we'll see.

Gallery Finished

We had so much fun on this vacation. I wanted to display some more photos from that week. But I wanted them a little less formal.

I put up 2 photo ledge shelves and added a ton of photos! You saw a little sneak peak in my Christmas 2024 post.

All of the frames you see here are from the Dollar Tree! What?! They have a pretty nice selection of picture frames! Plus, they are thin. I wanted to be able to layer them and they need to be thin to do that. Then I hung some in between the shelves.

I added some ticky tac to the back of the hangar. Then I pressed it onto the wall. The ticky tac stuck to the wall. Then I simply put a nail right at the hangar indentation. Pulled the ticky tac off and placed it at the bottom of the frame to keep it from moving. Easy peasy!

That's it! Having family photos on the wall and seeing the joy on their faces is my favorite! It just makes me smile!

Blessings,
Lori
