Sing For Joy

This time of year you begin to hear a different kind of music. Christmas music is fun and enjoyable. It is also very meaningful. Some of your regular radio stations will actually play songs that recognize Christ as the reason for the season.

You might not know this about me, but I love to sing. I enjoy singing with our worship team at church. I feel like my joy for singing came from my grandma. She gave me the name of this series. Sunday Drive.

She would take us for Sunday drives on Sunday afternoon and we wouldn't play the radio, we would sing! It's one of my favorite memories. I'd have to say that probably when we were kids it was more noise than a melody... but we loved it!

Psalms 98:4 (KJV)
4 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

But it didn't and doesn't matter to God what we sound like. We just sang out with our whole heart!

During this time of year, many Christmas songs are filled with joy about the miraculous entrance of our Lord and Savior. If you pay attention to the words while you sing, you are praising Him. Sing with your heart, it will fill you with joy!

Sing praises to God, our strength. Sing to the God of Jacob.

But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy.

We were created to worship The Lord, to glorify Him and lift Him up! Have you ever noticed how you feel after singing? I feel alive! Sometimes, I feel like I might have just touched heaven... I feel God's presence all around me.

Enjoy this season and the songs giving praise to Jesus. Be more aware that He is with you everyday. If you have the opportunity, SING! Sing with Joy!

Singing with joy will also help, if you're struggling, or having a difficult time. It might be too hard to sing... then just soak it in. Music is powerful. It can lift you up, change your mindset and give you joy.

16 But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress.

Sing with joy, for He is worthy of praise!
