Sunday Drive - More Than Enough

Myrtle Beach

(Just spent the week with my family! What an answer to prayer! All my kids and all the grandbabies! My heart is full!)

More Than Enough

I just have to share what happened to me the other week.

Most weeks, I write a devotional, like this one and publish it here on my blog. Sometimes I feel confident about it and sometimes 'eh'... Just being honest. Well, last week it felt 'eh'. I wasn't thrilled with the post, but I pressed publish anyway.

In the back of my mind, I question... Should I still be doing this? Does anyone even read them? Am I making a difference?

Next thing I know, I received an email from a reader sharing her story with me and how these devotionals really helped her. Then I received another, then another. God's timing is impeccable!

Then I read this in my devotions this week. This is the story about Jesus feeding the 5,000.

Matthew 14:15-21
15 That evening the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away so they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves.” 16 But Jesus said, “That isn’t necessary—you feed them.” 17 “But we have only five loaves of bread and two fish!” they answered. 18 “Bring them here,” he said. 19 Then he told the people to sit down on the grass. Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he gave the bread to the disciples, who distributed it to the people. 20 They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers. 21 About 5,000 men were fed that day, in addition to all the women and children!

Jesus miraculously multiplied a simple lunch of 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes to feed more than 5,000 people! What he was given looked insufficient. I can't imagine what the disciples were thinking. However, in the hands of God, the creator of all things, that little lunch became more than enough!

What we have to offer God may seem small, insignificant, meager and not really amount to much. But God! He can use and multiply whatever we give Him. In His hands there are no limits.

I clearly remember God directing me to start writing devotionals. So, why do I question? Why do I question whether I can make a difference or not.  The truth of the matter is, I can't make a difference. It's not about me. It's what God does with what I give Him that makes the difference.

God knows us so well and understands our frailties. He knew I needed encouragement! He used what I thought was insufficient and made it more than enough for someone. Thank You, Lord!

In the process, I got blessed too!

So, I will continue to put these little devotionals into His Hands. I give all of my insignificance to Jesus. It's not me. It's Him through me. Me, listening to Him. Me, writing what I feel He is telling me for a specific time. Doing what He wants for His people.

What you have to offer may seem small, not much of anything. But if God is telling you to do something with it, then He's about to make it more than enough!

You are more than enough! He only does things for our good, because He loves us.

His love is more than enough!

Blessings,
Lori

  1. I love that you are sharing devotionals regularly. It’s great to look at pretty homes and great decor but even better to know it’s from a sister in the family of God.
