Sunday Drive - Let The Past Pass

Sunday Drive - Don't Dwell On The Past

Don't Dwell On The Past

The past is the past. What we do with it is what counts. There are things we regret and there are things that were wonderful.

As much as we can't worry about tomorrow (the other week's devotional) we can't get stuck in the past. I find the best thing for me is to be thankful for the past and do my best to learn from it. We can't undo what's already been done.

There comes a point where we have to let it go. What keeps you stuck in the past? Do you need to forgive someone for hurting you? Forgive yourself for something you've done? Forgiveness is where you find freedom. It's time to forgive others for their mistakes and forgive yourself for yours.

Turn to The Lord, He is our refuge!

Psalms 62:8 (NLT)
8 O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.

We don't want to get so stuck in the past that we miss the wonderful things that are happening right now! There is newness all around us.

Isaiah 43:18-19 (NLT)
18 “But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. 19 For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

I like to compare life to seasons, some seasons have new life, some are hot fiery trials, some are refreshing, some are dark and dreary. However, many seasons of the past have some great memories too! Things we've learned. Things we've enjoyed. Value and cherish those!

But there is a new season coming...

Ask The Lord, to open your eyes and mind and heart to see all the new things He's doing in your life. He's placing opportunities all along the path. If you get so focused on where you've been, you might miss what awesome things He has in store for you.

Some things might look impossible. However, we serve The God of the impossible!

Matthew 19:26 (NLT)
26 Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”

He can make a way where there was no way through. Remember He split the Red Sea!

Exodus 14:21-22 (NLT)
21 Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the Lord opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land. 22 So the people of Israel walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on each side!

Blessings!
