Don't Worry About Tomorrow

Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

This is one of my favorite verses. It's simple and straight forward.

The world we live in seems to be spinning out of control. Evil is rampant and it can feel a bit unnerving at times. I continue to remind myself that man is not in control. God is! God is never caught off guard or surprised by events or even the nature of the human race. He knows our past, our present and our future.

This next verse truly spells it out. It gives me peace to know that God is completely aware of all that is going on in my life and all the thoughts running through my mind.

Matthew 6:30-34 (NLT)
30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? 31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. 34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

That verse gives me such freedom! If I put more effort into seeking first His kingdom and less into the state of our nation or our world, what peace that brings! We have to trust that He is aware of all things and will effortlessly take care of us. It is not difficult for Him. He loves us with an unimaginable love! He WILL take care of us. He knows exactly what we need and when!

Psalm 103:14 (NLT)
14 For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust.

Some may be offended by that last verse... However, we are weak in comparison to God Almighty! He created us from the dust! I'm thankful that He remembers how weak we are and that there is mercy and grace for that weakness! It also reminds me that He knows who He is! He is our Creator, the One who holds the entire universe in His hand.

Psalm 37:4 (NLT)
4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.

He created us to take delight in Him. We can completely trust Him with our entire life. That verse says that He will give us our heart's desires... I think we all know that doesn't mean a new car or a new house... When we are seeking first His Kingdom, His desires become our desires.

He will guide us along this life's path. Be ready to follow.

There's no need to worry about tomorrow.

Blessings,
Lori
