Every single day is a precious gift from The Lord.
Psalms 118:24 (NLT)
24 This is the day the Lord has made. We will
rejoice and be glad in it.
How do you start your day? I don't know that we all wake up rejoicing and glad that it is a new day. Some hit the ground running, some take a bit more time to get going, and some just want to pull the covers back over their head and not face the day. I think we've experienced each one of those days....
Even so, every day is still a gift. This is the day The Lord has made. We might have a tough time getting the day started, but a some point we need to rejoice and be glad in it. Everyday is a day we can treasure. Everyday is an opportunity to treasure Him.
Once we get the day going, we begin to think about all the things we need to do or places we need to go. We prioritize things, commitments, appointments, etc. Are we taking time to prioritize Christ? Are we asking Him what is most important for each day?
Sometimes, I come to The Lord with my list of things to do and and plead for help! How Lord am I going to get all of this done??? I'm still learning that none of the "stuff to do" matters that much. It will all most likely be there tomorrow and there will be more stuff added to the list.
The question remains for me as to whether, I sought Him out. Did I seek His face? Am I putting Him first? How am I spending this gift of today?
Psalm 28:7 (NIV)
8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face,
Lord, I will seek.
To seek God's face is to seek His character, His truth, His presence. Most of the time we tend to seek His hand... because we want answers to our prayers, desires, needs and struggles.
When we seek Him for who He is and not what He can do for us, it helps us figure out what is most important. We can focus more clearly and prioritize better. When we seek Him first, our day will fall into place. He cares about our concerns and struggles.
John 15:5 (NLT)
5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those
who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from
me you can do nothing.
Invite The Lord in all you do each day. He knows all about us. He knows all that we need for each day.
My prayer is that when I reach the end of the day, I can feel peace about the things I have done and feel peace about the things I have not done.
I know we all have busy lives, but it's important to find some time during your day to open and read your Bible. Begin to seek His face. See what wonderful things He has in store for you today.
For today is a wonderful gift.
1 Chronicles 16:10-11 (NLT)
24 10 Exult in his holy name; rejoice,
you who worship the Lord. 11 Search for the Lord and for his strength;
continually seek him.
Blessings,
Lori
