S.O.S is a morse code alert for a ship in distress, Save Our Ship. Today, I'm using it as an acronym for Same Old Stuff. (Which I'm sure you've heard many other sayings for SOS.)
I do not believe that every year you need to go out and buy more 'stuff'. We all have enough stuff in our houses. I believe less is more! I haven't seen most of my spring decor items for over a year. So, they're basically new to me again!
Since home decor isn't my forté, (I'm more of a DIY'er) doing theses home tours pushes me out of my comfort zone and brightens my home and my mood every time I participate. These home tours provide inspiration and give you ideas to fire up your creativity. Which leads me to give a big shout out to Marty from A Stroll Thru Life. She does a great job organizing these tours and I'm honored to be a part of.
If you coming over from.... Calypso In The Country. Welcome! Shelley has a beautiful style that I'm sure you enjoyed and sparked some ideas for your own home.
Basically, I went to my basement and pulled out the 'Same Old Stuff', and styled some of it differently this year. But I LOVE all the 'Same Old Stuff', and that's the point. You should only keep the things you absolutely LOVE!
Please feel free to check out last year's spring tour and see how I used it all then. 2022 Spring Tour
When my kiddos were little, I remember putting away some of their toys for months and when we brought them out, the discovery of seeing them again brought them such joy! It's kind of the same thing.
Like those tulips! They are faux, but look so real... I should have put water in the vase, that would've made them look perfect!
It's only hubby and I so I just set the table for two. (Also, we never use these place settings...maybe we should!) And, yes, the flooring is still sitting in the background.👀
I love those pink pillows with the mini poms, I was so happy to pull them out again. I just switched up the coffee table decor with a basket tray, candle and faux plant. The pink blanket I'm crocheting worked perfect with the pink pillows.
For me, spring is about sprucing things up. A fresh start to the season.
Since, I used most of my peonies in the floral arrangement, I decided to put a simple boxwood wreath on the door with a gauzy fabric bow.
Here's another close up of the peony floral arrangement. I literally just stuffed and bent the long stems into the vase. I recommend purchasing quality faux flowers. They last for years!
I feel like I've saved the best for last... Our kitchen remodel is almost finished. Do you remember when there was a wall between the kitchen and dining area? You can click over to, 1960's Kitchen Plans, if you want to see it!
We are soooo in love with it! Tiling the backsplash is next.
The only thing I purchased for this spring tour, was the adorable boxwood wreath for the new stove hood. (Yes, the floors are terrible... we'll get there.) You can literally see where the wall was before, it runs right under the end of the island.
I just love this! It feels like spring! I hope you enjoyed your visit into our home.

DeleteI love how the author emphasizes the value of cherishing the "Same Old Stuff" and finding joy in rediscovering them. It reminds me of the excitement my siblings and I felt when we reunited with our long-hidden toys after months of being packed away. The spring decor in the dining room and living room exudes a refreshing ambiance, making me eager to spruce up my own space. The upcoming kitchen remodel sounds thrilling, and I can't wait to see the final result after they complete the backsplash tiling.
ReplyDeleteSo true! Thank you!
