Sunday Drive - Don't Believe The Lies

We are constantly being bombarded with lies. Many of them come from outside sources, yet many of them come from our own minds. We are speaking to ourselves all the time. How much of it is truth and how much of it is lies? We can condemn ourselves and say awful things. Things we would never say to another person.

This is not what God wants for us. Not only should we not believe the lies, we shouldn't even listen to them in the first place!

1 Peter 5:8 (NLT)
8 Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

Our hearts and mind are targets on the battlefield. Satan would love to destroy you and if he can attack your mind, he will. His flaming arrows of accusation want to penetrate your mind, and take that lie straight to your heart.

Ephesians 6:16 (NIV)
16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

We need to call on The Lord for help and use the shield of faith! God joins us in this battle and reminds us that He has already won! He already paid the price for all of your sins.

Instead of listening to the lies, listen to The Word of God. Listen to what The Holy Spirit tells you.

This is a great question to ask yourself when you are being bombarded with thoughts that are difficult to sort out. What would Jesus say to me?

Jesus, would not tell you that you are stupid, ugly, or no good. Those are lies!

Psalms 139:14 (NKJV)
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

God does not lie. His Word does not lie. That is one thing you can count on. The things The Bible says about you are true. Fill your mind with the truth of what God says about you.

John 1:12 (NLT)
12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

Because you are His child, He watches over you. He loves you. He helps you. You are never alone. He has good plans for you.

Psalms 121:5-8 (NLT)
5 The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. 6 The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night. 7 The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. 8 The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.

We need to be aware of what we allow into our minds. There are thoughts we need to take captive the minute they try to sneak in. Chose to think on something else. Chose to read a scripture. Chose to pray.

2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV)
5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

We are all in the same boat. We all struggle with this. No one is immune to the lies. It's what we chose to do with them. God will help you, remember all we have to do is ask. He is faithful.
