I'm a pretty independent person... that has it's ups and downs... Being independent, I find it easy to do things on my own. On the down side, sometimes I find it hard to ask for help.
There's something inside of me that wants to do it myself, and there's a time for that. Yet, other times I trudge through needlessly because I won't ask for help. When it would be so much easier just to ask. This happened recently on a project I was struggling with and my wonderful husband said, "You know, you don't have to do this alone. We can do this together." 💗
The same train of thought applies to The Lord.
Sometimes, I don't even think to ask God for help until I'm knee deep into a situation, then I'm crying out for help. Oh, how I wished I would've asked for help in the beginning. That would've been sooo much better!
The Lord is always there to help. All we have to do is ask.
Psalms 54:4 (NIV)
Surely God is my help;
the Lord is the one who sustains me.
When I ask The Lord for help, I am putting my trust in Him. I am acknowledging that I need Him. Instead of being independent, I want to be as dependent on Him as possible. When I do this, He guides me, leading my mind to find solutions and to make better decisions.
Psalm 32:8 (NLT)
8 The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.
Just knowing that I've asked The Lord to guide and direct me gives me so much more confidence. I know without a doubt that God will give me exactly what I need at exactly the right time.
Remember the project I was struggling with? I needed a certain width of wood for it. I knew I was going to have to combine pieces together to make it work. I was wracking my brain trying to find something super thin and workable for this project. I was getting ready to go to Lowes and just walk the isles praying I would find something.
Then it dawned on me! I just know this was The Lord! Popsicle sticks! Yes! That was the perfect thickness I needed! Thank You, Lord!
Psalm 28:7 (NIV)
The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,
and with my song I praise him.
It just reminds me that He will take care of the tiniest details, as well that the major things in life. Ask for help! He will never let you down!
Blessings!
Lori
