Sunday Drive - Untangle Your Thoughts

Sunday Drive - Untangle Your Thoughts

Sometimes our thoughts get so tangled up and it's difficult to untangle them.

This is one of my favorite verses...

Psalms 46:10 (NLT)
“Be still, and know that I am God!

What does it mean to be still? I think we all know, this verse is just talking about not moving. There is so much more to it.

Have you ever felt that there are so many things running through your mind, that is feels like a jumbled  mess? I have! Thoughts just keep bouncing off walls of my mind. It can truly be overwhelming.

This is where I find it essential to stop, and still my mind. I find it harder to do than stilling my body. Thoughts are constantly flooding my mind. Yet, it's vital for me to stop and allow His presence to flood my mind.

In this technological era, we are bombarded with voices, images and opinions through social media, tv, radio, and people in general. Do we take the time to silence it all? Just you and God, no voices, no noise. It's not that easy, but so necessary.

When we do take the time, we are enveloped in His presence, like streams of living water.

John 7:38 (NLT)
38 Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’

Yes! Living water from the heart of God, flowing over your mind and soul. This is what refreshes us. This is what expands our perception of God and all that He is and at the same time shrinks our perception of our struggles.

So, while you spend time being still in His Presence, The Lord helps untangle our thoughts. This helps you to look at things in a new light. This new perspective clears our mind.

Remember, He lights our path. Now that our minds are clearer, we can see the path before us.

Psalms 119:105 (NLT)
5 Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

We many not understand the path we are on, but we can be confident that He knows the way. Trust in Him. He will not lead you astray. God is never lost.

Isaiah 26:3-4 (NIV)
3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You. 4 Trust in The Lord forever, for The Lord, The Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.

This year I felt lead to try and memorize scripture. This is not something I have been good at in my walk with Jesus. So, my goal is to memorize 1 scripture each month. The verse above is for January.

I have used that verse several times to untangle my thoughts... when I had fearful thoughts, or concern, or when I needed strength. This may help you also.

Each month, I will share the verse I plan to memorize, so you can join me if you like!

Blessings,
Lori
