Sunday Drive - Do Your Words Ring Hollow?

Loving and trusting in The Lord are sooo very important. They go hand in hand. Sometimes, I think we separate the two.

In this day and age, it seems that saying 'I love you', doesn't have the same weight that it used to. So when we tell The Lord that we love Him, do you truly believe that He will take care of you and provide what is best? 

Because if you don't think that He will, then saying 'I love you' is hollow, and you don't really mean it. It's just a nice thing to say.

To completely love someone means you completely trust them. The Lord is our strength and shield. We can fully trust in Him.

Psalm 28:7 (NLT)
The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

He is continually at work to protect and help us. He is absolutely trustworthy. So why do we struggle with trusting in Him? Maybe because we like to think we are in control? Maybe when we are going through a really tough time, we think He forgot about us?

Sometimes, it's hard to accept that He allows hard times in our life. How could a good God allow us to suffer? Does He understand how hard this is? Doesn't He care?

You aren't alone.... we've all been there, we've all felt like that at some point in our life. But, I can tell you without a doubt, that He does care. Read this next verse.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NLT)
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. 9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

We must rest in His sovereignty. He is in absolute control over everything, the entire universe. We are not insignificant, we are apart of His plan. He knows what is best for you, even if you might think otherwise.

This is where we exercise our faith muscle to love and trust His ways. This muscle needs exercise in order for it to become stronger.

So, when you tell The Lord you love Him, know that you trust Him, no matter what happens to come your way.

I love you, Lord; you are my strength. 2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.
