I'm not writing scripture on our new floors.... I'm writing scriptures on the subfloor. Have you ever heard of doing that? Of course, you can only do this if you are in new construction, or redoing a floor in your home. But what a great idea, right??
It reminds me of the scripture in Deuteronomy.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9(NIV)
4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
So, I thought why not write them on the subfloor? The Word of God is a lamp onto our feet.
Psalms 119:105(NLT)
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet
and a light for my path.
Anyway, I thought it was a cool thing to do! I pray that it will be a blessing to all that come into our home.
It's really not hard to do. I used a cheap permanent marker from the Dollar Tree. Don't use your nice ones. They'll just get tore up.
Writing on subfloor isn't hard to do, but the marker doesn't always want to write. I found it best to wipe the dust off the area with an old towel. Also, take your time. Writing slowly helped the marker write better.
I even included a prayer where the bed will be placed.
I sometimes had to go over the letters, but for the most part it worked really well!
When I did this in the master bathroom, I thought a paint pen would work best. No! It was the worst! Then I tried a thin sharpie. That worked alright, but not as good as the thicker marker.
It's fine, no one is going to see it... Here's the other one I did in the master bath.
I think I've got the hang of it now. I plan on doing this all over the house!
The guest room is almost finished. We are hoping to get floors installed this weekend. Then it's just closet doors, baseboards, trim around door and closets. Whew!
Blessings,
Lori
Wonderful idea. The scriptures you chose are great promises.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I want to fill our home with The Lord!
DeleteLove this! When we remodeled our kitchen a couple of years ago, we removed drywall. I wrote scripture on a few of the studs. I wanted to make sure that our home was “marked” as one that serves the Lord.
ReplyDeleteHi Connie! Thanks so much! Oh! I love this! What a great idea!! I might have to do that too!
DeleteLove this idea! So Sweet.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
DeleteI bought a doormat that had Scripture on it once. Then I could never use it because I couldn't walk on His Word... I think there's a reason it says door posts and gates, and not floors....
ReplyDeleteHi Liberty! I totally get it! I think I would find it difficult to step on that. But this is under the flooring, so it's all good! I love it!
