God completely understands our imperfection. He didn't create us to be perfect.
We sometimes look at our imperfection as flaws in the design. We fall into the trap of self-rejection, picking at ourselves, pointing out all of our mistakes.
When we do this, our attention is focusing on ourselves instead of Him. We've wandered off.
The truth is that God looks for persistence not perfection. He wants us to turn our attention back towards Him.
This reminds me of the story of Mary and Martha. Where Martha was worried about all the things and Mary was content only wanting to focus on Jesus.
Luke 10:41-42(NLT)
41 But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! 42 There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
God loves us just as we are. He died so that He could robe us with His perfection. If we were perfect, why did Jesus have to die? It is His perfect love and sacrifice for us that gives us access to The Father.
2 Corinthians 5:21 (NLT)
21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
We will fail, that is the reality of life, but we don't need to stay and wallow in our failure. That isn't what Jesus wants for us. Look up! Extend your hand to Jesus. He will help you turn your focus back to Him.
James 4:8 (NLT)
8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.
He will always welcome you with unfailing love.
Blessings,
Lori
