Perseverance seems to be a rare thing in this day and age... According to Webster's dictionary, perseverance means a continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure or opposition. To persevere is to persist in a state, enterprise, or undertaking in spite of counterinfluences, opposition or discouragement.
So interesting.... We all encounter struggles. No one is immune to them, some have more difficulties, some have less. Yet, we can persevere. We are not alone in our struggles, the Holy Spirit guides us and is with us.
We can persevere with hope!
Romans 5:3-5
We also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that
suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character,
hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured
out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Most of us look for a quick fix to our problems, sometimes there isn't one... yet if we take that problem and accept it with trust and confidence knowing The Lord is with us and helping us, we will find a couple of things happening. Our Christ like character will develop more and our faith will grow.
We have to stick it out! We have to endure! We are not alone!
John 14:15-17(NLT)
“If you love me, obey my commandments. 16 And I will
ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave
you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot
receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But
you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.
Philippians 4:13(NLT)
13 For I can do everything through Christ, who
gives me strength.
Isn't the goal to become more like Christ? For Him to change us everyday to look more like Him? Sometimes He might actually allow some struggles in our lives because He already knows what it will develop in us.
With Christ I believe I can persevere. I will make it and so can you.
We have Christ giving us strength and courage every single day!
Blessings,
Lori
