Where is your confidence? Is it in your own strength? Is it in your own abilities? We can have quite a bit of confidence when life is easy and things are going good. But what happens to that confidence when a difficulty or a problem arises that you weren't prepared for?
I want to say that I run straight to Jesus, but more often than not, I usually run every possible solution through my brain, hoping to find an answer.
When I can't find an answer or find one quick enough... then my confidence starts to waiver. Putting my confidence in myself was the problem from the start.
Isaiah 30:15 (NLT)
My confidence needs to be in Christ. This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy
One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be
saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength.
I love what it says at the end of that verse... 'in quietness and confidence is your strength'. That's where I want to go naturally (like blinking or breathing) when problems come up. You and I both know that we will have problems and difficulties along the way, so I want to train my brain to stop and rest in Christ, trusting in Him for the answers.
This is interesting to think about.... Being anxious drains you of strength, yet quiet confidence in Christ gives you strength!
Christ is fully aware of your problems and needs. He hasn't forgotten or gotten distracted. He might not work on the time table that we want, but He is working. Remember His ways are not our ways.
Isaiah 55:8-9(NLT)
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says
the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as
the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
We might have to wait for some answers... No one wants to hear that! It might not be what we want, but sometimes that's what we need.
We have to trust that God knows what He's doing. Where is my confidence? I chose to place my confidence completely in Christ!
Lord, help me do this every single day!
Isaiah 40:31 (NLT)
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Deuteronomy 31:6 (NLT)
So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
Blessings,
