There are so many things in life that are fighting for top priority, family, work, friends, church... Not to mention yourself.
It's easy to get lost in the chaos. There is only one place to find peace in the midst of this. Jesus.
Matthew 6:31-33 (NLT)
“So don’t worry about these things, saying,
‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things
dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already
knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live
righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Jesus needs to be our Top Priority! How do you make Jesus your top priority? Creating time and space in your life for Him. It's so easy to get up and jump right into your day, and then before you know it you're falling into bed at night.
Nothing is more important than taking time to nurture our relationship with Jesus, by reading our Bible, chatting to God about your day, then sitting and listening to Him love on you, lastly thanking Him for all the things in your life.
Psalms 100:4-5 (NLT)
Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his
courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord
is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness
continues to each generation.
This takes effort on our part to make Him top priority, but the benefits far outweigh the time spent building your relationship with Him.
Your thinking will become more clear and focused, other priorities will fall into their proper place, and peace will fill your mind and heart.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray
about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has
done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can
understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in
Christ Jesus.
There is nothing quite like knowing you are in the perfect will of God. That's what putting him in top priority does, it makes everything else work better.
Then, when you are in the midst of a hiccup during the day, your first inclination is to ask Jesus for help. He wants us to reach for Him first. He is always there.
John 16:33 (NLT)
I have told you all this so that you may have peace
in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take
heart, because I have overcome the world.
Blessings,
Lori
