Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do
not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you
wherever you go.”
Think about this... You can CHOOSE to be strong. Even when you FEEL weak. Choosing to be strong takes courage. In that verse, it says... Have I not commanded you? This isn't something you do because you feel like it, you choose to be strong because you have to, you need to, God is commanding us to.
That doesn't mean it will be easy. In fact, the weaker you are 'feeling', the harder it can be to choose to be strong. Did you know that your feelings don't always represent the truth?
A couple weeks ago we talked about gazing or glancing. Are you gazing at your problems and glancing at the Savior, or vice versa, gazing at the Savior and glancing at your problems?
Well, if you are gazing at your problems, your courage to choose to be strong is going to waiver and possibly melt away.
BUT!!! If you are gazing at the Savior, then your courage will strengthen and grow!
Isaiah 40:31(NLT)
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
We are going to go through hard times, that's just apart of life... we will get discouraged at times. But we don't have to stay there! We can stop and refuse to give into that discouragement! God is not surprised by anything in our life. He is not limited like we are. All things are possible with God!
Matthew 19:26 (NLT)
Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”
Look up! Draw strength and courage and CHOOSE to be strong! He isn't finished with you!
Philippians 1:6 (NLT)
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
