Sunday Style Over 50 - We Are In Training

Happy Sunday! It was 35°F outside this morning... Hmm I think I'll start taking photos inside! Nothing fancy... just some black jeggings, black boots black cardigan and a leopard print shirt.  I've had all these items for years.  I love how classic they are.  I don't know if an outfit like this will ever go out of style.

Have you ever really thought about how we are in training?  God is training us to be more like Him.  He wants us to be like Him! To think like Him, act like Him, talk like Him.  It doesn't come naturally to us, we have to be trained.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NLT)
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

What a privilege! When we go through tough times it's because God is allowing it.  He wants to strengthen us.  He wants us to grow and become more like Him.  

1 Peter 4: 12-13 (NLT)
Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.

That shouldn't frustrate us, that should encourage us!  We are in training!

In Genesis 28: 11-16,  Jacob had a dream about his future, When he woke up he said, "Surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!”

How many times are we in the midst of something and The Lord, The God of all creation is there with us and we are clueless that He is right there with us.  That's why we need training!! We need to learn His presence, to hear His tender voice.

Then a little later in Genesis...

Genesis 32:22-30 - Jacob wrestles with God.  You gotta read that passage!

Why did Jacob wrestle with God? Jacob needed to grow. In fact, he was never the same after that encounter.

Let's take the time to sense God's presence all around you, hovering over everything you do.  He is training you to be aware of His presence in every situation you encounter.

Surely, The Lord is in this place!
