This was taken just before Hubs and I were leaving for home. I love this tiered t-shirt dress, I picked up at Walmart the other week. It is so incredibly soft and comfortable, I think I'll be getting another!
Today I want to chat about disciplining your thoughts.
Disciplining your thoughts takes.... discipline. Discipline means to train oneself to do something in a controlled and habitual way.
2 Corinthians10:5 (NIV)
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
I really love this version of the same verse... (The Passion Translation)
2 Corinthians10:5 (TPT)
Romans 12:2 (NIV)
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Philippians 4:8 (NLT)
I love this verse. We need to let God change the way we think. How do we do that?
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Think about the part that says, 'Fix your thoughts'. To me it means to think on these things on purpose. This is the key to training our minds.

Many times we just let our thoughts go on aimlessly about whatever pops into it. We all do this from time to time and it's not all bad. We need to dream and let our imagination and creativity grow too.
What I'm really talking about are the thoughts we allow in and ferment... like the ones where we put ourselves down, or angry thoughts that just get us more angry, or judgemental thoughts of someone, even prideful thoughts. At this point, you can fill in the blank for your thoughts, we all struggle in some area.
This is where we need to take those thoughts captive and choose not to dwell on them or even think on them.

2 Corinthians10:5 (TPT)
We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God. We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One.
This is something I am always working on. Allowing the Holy Spirit to show me these thoughts that need to be captured. Then to take them and insist that they bow in obedience to The Lord. It comes down to a choice I need to make.
Some of these thoughts, I want to entertain... to be rebellious. I don't want to give them up....
God wants better for me. Allowing these thoughts to roam free in my mind will not help me grow in Him. They will not help me show the love of Christ. They will drag me down, just like the enemy of my soul wants.
I need to break free from them every single day. Invite the Holy Spirit to clear my thoughts and show me His way.
Join me in this daily journey.
Proverbs 4:23 (NLT)
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
Blessings!
