I'm all about keeping Sunday Style Over 50 simple. It's a comfy leopard tunic and jeans, with easy booty shoes. 😊
Guess what!? Our church is opening up next week! I am so excited! It'll be very different... but I can't wait to see our church family!
Today I want to talk about tunnel vision...
What is tunnel vision?
- defective site in which objects cannot be properly seen if not close to the center of the field of view.
- extreme narrowness of viewpoint
- single minded concentration on one objective
These are all definitions I found on the internet. So, if a person is characterized as having tunnel vision, it's usually in a negative way.
I've looked at tunnel vision negatively.... for instance when someone won't listen to anything because they are so focused on a subject or thing. They won't listen to reason or any other opinion.
Now, let's flip this thing around...
Maybe we don't have enough tunnel vision... If Jesus was my concentration, He was my viewpoint.
Hear me out for a minute... Right now, we have so many situations and circumstances fighting for our attention.
We can allow the world to shatter our thinking and disrupt our tunnel vision on Jesus, to draw us away from focusing on Him.
There are so many crazy things going on right now, and things might not be going the way you planned or wanted them to go. But we need to remember that the Lord is sovereign over every situation and circumstance in your life.
If the Lord is sovereign in my life, am I accepting and humbling myself under His mighty hand? Am I rejoicing in what He is doing in my life? I might not understand why things are the way they are, but if I am focusing on Him (tunnel vision) I can trust in Him.
1Peter 5:6 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.
So, I kind of am looking it like this.... think of a 'Where's Waldo' book. There is sooo much going on, on a single page. Then, compare that to how our world is right now, or your own life.... So much is happening, it can become overwhelming and frightening, creating anxiety in our lives.
But, if I have tunnel vision and Jesus is the object of my focus, like finding Waldo, let's find Jesus! Then let all the other activity and 'noise' of my life fade into the background.
I don't want to let any circumstance or situation or anything change or alter my focus. That no matter what happens, no matter what is going on around me, I will continue to keep Jesus as my center focus.
John 14:6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
This isn't just a one and done.... This is something I strive to do every single day. Waking up and searching for Jesus in my 'Where's Waldo' world.
Blessings!
