Sunday Style Over 50 - Transform or Conform

It's been so great to be able to have a reason to get ready this week. It looks like we'll be filming worship each week for home church. I'm so thankful to be apart of that!!
It's still pretty chilly here in PA, so I'm sticking with... black jeans, black sweater, leopard tank, and leopard slides, instead of the dress I wanted to wear... Can you have too much leopard? Nah.... 😍
These two words had me thinking this week.... Do I transform or conform?
I'm looking at this scripture verse in Romans.
Romans 12:2 (NIV)
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
The meaning of conform is to be or become similar in form, nature or character.
The meaning of transform is to change in condition, nature or character.
So, am I allowing the outside change me on the inside (conform) or am I changing from the inside out (transform)? I do not want to become similar to this world, in any form or character. I want to change my condition, nature and character to be more like Jesus.
What does God want to transform in me during this time? Let me be honest for a moment... I like to be in control. (A control freak! 🤪) I like things to go a certain way. I also know I'm not the only one.
I say that I like to be in control, but at the same time, I don't want to be! And also at the same time, I know I'm not.... God is in control! Then when I really think about it, I don't want His job! I'm glad I'm not in control! Lord, help me! Am I getting this?
I want to learn to let go of that control, (you know, the control I think I have). To loosen my grip on it. There is such freedom in letting go. It frees me to move forward. If I'm hanging on, I can't move. I have to let go.
So, what does that actually look like.... For me it means, when things aren't going the way I think they should, to stop and ask God, 'Is this Your way or my way?' Normally, I might try to fix the problem and can mess things up more than they already are.
I just need to stop. Take a moment and listen. He always has a plan that works.
How are the circumstances in my life, changing my condition, nature or character? Are they conforming me to this world? Or am I allowing God to use these circumstances to transform me into a better servant for Him?
Lord, transform my condition, nature and character to be more like You. Help me see how these circumstances can mold me into who You want me to be.
I love this verse.
Philippians 1:6 (NLT)
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
More of You and less of me....
Blessings!
