In fact, I probably feel better physically today than I did at 35. That was 15 years ago people!! That was around the time I got tired of being overweight and began to do something about it. Thank You, Lord!
Feeling healthy and strong is very important to me now. Just because I don't feel 50, doesn't mean my body doesn't agree at times. In fact there are days it is giving me hints loud and clear. I really don't want to listen to it too much. ;) For instance... my shoulder has been screaming at me lately. You know, some annoying tendonitis. I've dealt with it before and I know what I need to do. This, I can ignore for a bit, but it's only going to get worse until I start doing some therapy on it. (Which I have, and it's already feeling better!)
That's the thing, knowing what you can ignore and what you shouldn't. Good health is important to me, and I want to take good care of myself. So, that's means I have to listen to my body more than I did before. I need to feed it well, and keep it exercised. Because.....I want to be a mover and a shaker when I'm in my 70's! Oh yeah! I do! Just like these grannies... minus the fanny packs!
This is the age that, I believe, you start to care less what people think of you. Did you watch those grannies? They DO NOT care one bit that they are being recorded, or that there is a crowd around them. They are getting their groove on gearing up for some race. Good for them! Hey, they're doing a RACE! Movers and shakers, that's what I'm talking about!
My Great Aunt Sylvia, used to say that, "age is between the ears". I wholeheartedly agree with her! You know we all "self talk". We talk to ourselves, well, if you don't, I do! And I probably make up for the fact that you don't. Remember, I'm a stay at home wife, and my hubby works a lot! Who else am I going to talk to? So, what kind of things do you tell yourself?
"Ugh... I'm tired. I'm getting old, my body hurts, whine, whine, whine, blah, blah, blah."
Well, somedays, yeah, that's me.... But most days, I chose differently.
Each day is a gift, an opportunity, a blessing. I try to spend some time each morning with my Bible and my Lord. That is what encourages me everyday. It's not about what I can do, but what He can do through me. I read the Word of God to lift me up, give me strength and direction.
1 Samuel 30:6 (NLT)
David was now in great danger because all his men were very bitter about losing their sons and daughters, and they began to talk of stoning him. But David found strength in the Lord his God.
David was in trouble, but he didn't give up, lose heart. He looked up!
So, that's what I'm doing. This is just the beginning for me! Whew! I made it to the 50 club! Now, just a few more years, and I can get some discounts! :)
Blessings,
Beautifully said! ...from a fellow member of the 50 club!! Xoxo
