I have been working on the office. Really wanting to make this space more functional.
The first place I need to attack is the office desk. I cannot take this mess anymore!
All I want is an organized tidy desk.... Is that too much to ask for? Also, I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on organizers. They never fit exactly and you can't customize them to fit the items in your desk.
My solution... repurpose and reuse those cereal, granola, and cracker boxes.
They come in all sorts of sizes, and they are basically free. You were going to either throw them away or even better recycle them.
Measure the depth of your desk and that is how tall you are going to cut all of your boxes. My drawer was 2" deep, so that's what I'm cutting mine all down to.
Once you have all your boxes cut, then I do a "dry fit". Adding some items and seeing the best way they will fit into the desk drawer.
Now for the fun part! Let's cover them up and make them pretty. Who wants to look at brown cardboard, not me... Just because I'm cheap, doesn't mean I like ugly. 😜
I picked up this bright and cheerful wrapping paper at the Dollar Tree. I love cut lines on wrapping paper. It just makes it so much easier!
Now the only other thing you are going to need is some Mod Podge. First glue the edges. Using a paint brush makes it so much easier.
Then I cut one long piece to go up and over each section. It was pretty easy. Of course, it wasn't perfect there were a few wrinkles here and there.
Once it's done you can slide it in and fill up the organizer.
So much better!
Since I first did this desk organizer in 2012, I redid it and made a gold organizer. I've also done several other drawers with this same type of box organization.
Blessings!
