I’ve loved reading blogs over the past year
and have considered starting one, but the time commitment with my busy life has
always scared me. Would anyone ever want
to even read my blog? But then I started to think who cares? I could do it just for me. Then my thumb happened….
You don’t realize
how much you use your thumb, even if it’s your left one and you are right
handed. It started way back in July of 2011.
I was working on some cabinets in one of the apartments we own. Just simply carrying it over to be sanded or
something like that. Carrying it like
this…
And it locked up on me. Now seriously, it
scared me, what the heck just happened? I couldn’t move it out of that position
with out PAIN! You have got to be
kidding me? I don’t have time for this! Long
story short, went to the doctors, they gave me a brace. It "unlocked" and I was completely pain free. YAY! But of
course you know that isn’t the end of the story….
Let’s move ahead 6
months…. Here we are recovering from
“basal joint arthoplasty”. Now doesn’t
that sound like fun? About 3 weeks ago, it “locked up” on me at work, I
honestly wasn’t even doing anything!
Went to the doctors again!
Cortisone shot and I should be good as new, well, I wasn’t. This is getting old! It stayed locked up for
7 days! Went back and scheduled surgery.
Apparently, I had “debris” in there keeping it
“subluxated”(partially dislocated), arthritis and spurs, doesn’t that sound wonderful? They even took one of my tendons in my wrist and squished in there for some "new" cartilage. I am very glad I had it done. Now, I’m on the
mend. And I get to wear this for the next 3-4 weeks. Yay!...
During this time, I have spent
hours perusing my favorite 30+ blogs. I
had a conversation with my (computer science major) son one night about how I
love to browse blogs, he says, “You should start one, right now, let’s do
it. Come on, mom!” Of course, I’m not feeling good at the
moment, hand in cast, plus a cold coming on… it did not happen that night. But I had been throwing the thought around in
my mind for a while. My hubby had even
mentioned it a couple of months back.
Time, time, time… that was my fear, not to mention I know NOTHING about how HTML or gadgets, or linking...
I’m 46, both kiddos are in college, I’m only
working part-time right now, no real commitments, except working on some
apartments we own. So, why not now? We moved into our new house in November
2009. I have literally done nothing…
Well, I’ve painted the laundry room due to necessity (that will be explained
some time in the future) and I’ve painted the office. Honestly, other than putting up curtains so
that we have privacy I haven decorated at all.
This is the perfect time to share my adventures of turning this house
from builder basic to fantabulous! Plus,
I love to garden and we haven’t done hardly anything outside. Well, I take some of that back…. We did
invest in a gorgeous stone patio and we just had 7 trees planted. So, here I am starting a blog! I have so much rolling around in my brain it's going to explode! I'd better end here or it's going to get messy....
